The committee is working to encourage voters to sign a petition to add a question on the 2022 ballot aimed at increasing the number of seats on the Baltimore County Council. The BALTIMORE COUNTY DEMOCRATIC STATE CENTRAL COMMITTEE (BCDSCC), known as the Baltimore County Democratic Party, was elected on June 26, 2018 during the Democratic Primary Election. A vacancy has occurred due to the resignation of a member of District 7. The remaining members are charged with making a recommendation to the full Committee regarding a new member.
Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, a registered Democratic voter and resident of Baltimore County’s Legislative District 7. Interested individuals should submit: 1) a complete application, 2) a professional resume, and 3) a letter of interest indicating their professional, civic and political experience and why they are interested in serving on the BCDSCC. Materials should be e-mailed to [email protected] with the subject line “District 7 Vacancy Application '' or mailed USPS to BCDSCC, Attention: Nominations Subcommittee, P.O. Box 19092, Towson, MD 21286 no later than 11:59 pm on Monday, February 7, 2022. Application packages that are submitted after the deadline or are missing any of the required materials will not be considered. All eligible applicants will be interviewed publicly via a virtual platform (Zoom Meeting) that will be live streamed. The remaining Legislative District 7 Democratic Central Committee members will conduct the virtual interviews on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, beginning at 5:00 pm EST. We hope that the new year has gotten off to a great start for you! 2022 is a very important year, with our gubernatorial primary coming up in June, and the general election in November. We need to make sure that every possible Democrat is aware and ready to vote. The first step? Make sure we register every possible Democrat to vote, and to do this we need your help! Please join us for virtual voter registration phonebanking, starting this Saturday, January 22, at 12:30. We’ll be calling likely Democrats to encourage them to register to vote. Training will be provided at the beginning of the phonebank, then we’ll stay on Zoom and make calls together. We’ll have a chance to compare notes, ask each other questions, and hang out with fellow Democrats while we build up our Party in Baltimore County. The current BALTIMORE COUNTY DEMOCRATIC STATE CENTRAL COMMITTEE (BCDSCC), known as the Baltimore County Democratic Party, was elected June 26, 2018 during the Democratic Primary Election. Elected BCDSCC members were sworn-in at a ceremony on August 4, 2018 and will serve until the Primary Election in 2022. Every voting member of the Central Committee serves as a Democratic Party official.
Baltimore County Democratic State Central Committee bylaws require that once a district level vacancy occurs, the Committee must fill that vacancy within 45 days of the creation of the vacancy. A member of the five-member Legislative District 8 team recently resigned, and that has created an immediate need to fill that vacancy with a qualified registered Democrat who resides within District 8. (District 8 presently includes the greater Parkville / Carney area and several surrounding communities.) Applicants are encouraged to apply regardless of gender, race, age, religion, orientation, or background, if there is genuine interest in working to support the platform, mission, goals, and programs of the Democratic Party, and nominated Democratic candidates. BCDSCC is attempting to fill just one vacancy within the 8th Legislative District of Baltimore County and invites diverse candidates to apply. Each applicant must have been a registered Democrat at the time of the last Primary Election. The remaining members Legislative District 8 of BCDSCC are charged with soliciting applicants, screening and interviewing qualified candidates who return all application materials before the deadline, and making a recommendation to the full Committee of a new member who will serve as a full member of the BCDSCC for the reminder of the current four-year term, which ends in June, 2022. BCDSCC members interested in continuing as members of BCDSCC thereafter must run for office in the 2022 Primary Election. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen who is a registered Democratic voter whose permanent residence is in Baltimore County. Interested individuals must submit 1) a fully completed BCDSCC application, 2) a resume, and 3) a letter of interest indicating their professional, civic, and political experience and why they are interested in serving on the BCDSCC. Up to two written references may also be submitted, however, they are totally optional. Materials should be emailed to the following: [email protected] with the subject line "BCDSCC District 8 Vacancy Application" or mailed via USPS to BCDSCC, Attention: Legislative District 8 Members, Baltimore County Democratic State Central Committee, P.O. All qualified applicants who have completed and submitted all application materials on a timely basis will be interviewed publicly on Sunday October 17, 2021 by the remaining Legislative District 8 BCDSCC members in structured interviews conducted via Zoom, which are recorded. Once application materials have been received, applicants will be notified of the exact day and time of their scheduled interview.
